Getting to Know Your Body Type

Posted: November 14, 2016 by Octavia Osborne

Morning loves,

This week starts a new week for all of us to (if you haven’t already), start on new goals and get motivated to get things done!! Today is a great day to discuss body types in regards to what pieces are best worn with your body type. It has been requested to do a post based on this and since I was sick all last week (a.k.a I didn’t have new pictures to post anyway), the timing for this is perfection!!?

I feel that is very important to know exactly what works best to flatter your body. Knowing your body shape to begin with helps! We as women should all feel beautiful no matter our body shape. The goal is to make sure your body is well-balanced and proportioned. We all have different bodies and to know what best fits you and your curves is what matters!!! Like fashion designer Hubert de Givench stated “The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress.”! Makes sense!!

Just like my sister Beyonce (don’t hate?), I am considered peared shaped because I more bottom heavy with a small chest area. Get to understand which body shape you have and tell me which one is more you!!

Hourglass⌛

– waist is smaller than bust and hips
GOAL: Highlight your curves & small waist…never cover!
*Ratio – Bust:Waist:Hips = 4:3:4
*Perfect Example: Kim Kardashian

AVOID: Shapeless Pieces – takes away from waistline…don’t cover them!

Inverted Triangle aka the Cone

-more busty in the top area & wider shoulders; top-heavy.
GOAL: Create illusion of a hourglass shape by adding fullness to lower half of the body.
*Ratio – Bust:Waist:Hips = 4:3:3
Perfect Example: Angelina Jolie

AVOID: Skinny Jeans – doesn’t add volume to the bottom at all.

Triangle aka Pear?

-your waist and hips are wider than your bust, small shoulders; more bottom heavy.
GOAL: Add volume to your waist and upper area to slim down bottom area to evenly portion body shape.
*Ratio – Bust:Waist:Hips = 3:4:4
*Perfect Example: Queen Beyonce?

Rectangle

Apple?
